the trouble with tuesdays

club passim:
there's this club that has an open mic, you have to pay 'em five dollars to play. isn't that a ripoff. and they also only let you play two songs. they offer to record you a cd of your songs for an extra price. its rediculous. boston has so many shitty open mics. but the real rediculous thing is how many people still go to it. if this thing is right, 60 people show up for it. because its free to members, and i have no idea how their member scheme works. but im sure members will take advantage of that. it would cost 10 bucks for us. so apparently its like a 50 year old place. like it played a role in the folk scene inthe 60s. bob dylan tried to play there for free. and apparently they refused to let bruce springsteen play. bob dylan had to play for free because they weren't willing to pay him. apparently its 60 to 100 dollars to be a member there. if youre a student you can be one for 35 bucks but you cant without ID. this place just kinda seems like a money factory. they're so greedy they even go to a 2,500 dollar level. if you get that you get free access to all shows and stuff. but it's like... that just seems to me like highway robbery. i can't believe they even have this on a website. like this just shows how shitty and how low people in boston are. you cant charge peopel 2500 bucks for an open mic. neither can you charge 'em a 100 bucks. i think its because they think its historical so they think they can get money out of them. but thats a disgusting mentality to have over something as open as an open mic. and i can't believe that guy over there in that store reccomended this place to us. i think its one massive network of people who are trying to rip you off. its just disgusting to see so many greedy people in the music scene. over in columbus this is unheard of. i hate to say it but thats just another reason columbus is better. its just shit. its like blood money. and theyre going and wringing it out of artists. they have the least money and theyre getting them to pay more money. higher rent and higher price for the artists? i feel like spitting on the window of this place. there's your membership fee.

The Burren
here's another stupid open mic. so, first of all, its in somerville. in davis square. so im not even sure we could get there on public transport. but once we get there, and we have to get there at 5pm, there's no guarentee when you're gonna play. because... guess what. they draw your name out of a fucking hat. its not show up early and get signed up early, its show up and whatever time you show up, thats basically when they draw the names out of the hat, and they basically do that shit. i hate all the stupid gimmicks they do out here.

The Rosebud
this one doesn't look bad. like there's no fee that i can see. but it does start at 8pm. and it is in somerville. but i don't think they have any hat thing. which's good 'cause i don't want any of that nonsense. the only thing im not sure about is it says its run by miss genevieve. which sounds like a sketchy ass name. i imagine some fantasy obsessed white chick, or like a real big chubby black chick. either one of those is going to be weird. why call yourself "miss" genevieve. just use your name. but its 15 minutes. she says contact me for your time. im guessing thats at the actual mic, and not like, before, which basically thats the feeling i get, when i read how she wrote that. so maybe she's also an idiot.

Paddy O's
so this one sounds stupid too. its in boston. it might be at park station. but it starts at 8. now... the thing thats weird is this is the berklee spot. this's where people go from their school. so i don't really necessarily want to have anything to do with these berkley people. because... all the jazz and nonsense is just not my style. plus this isn't a regular open mic this is a jam. which means we couldn't play a single one of our songs. which's absolutely shitty. so that's not gonna work.
